Student Forum 2010 Awards

The Industrial Electronics Society Student Forum (IES-SF) 2010 was chaired by Marek Jasinski, Giuseppe Acciani and Pedro Rodriguez. Once again, the IES-SF aroused a high interest among students. 16 papers were submitted for evaluation and 10 of them were selected to be presented in two oral sessions. The scores given by the reviewers to the papers are shown in this graph. Students performed very high level presentations. As an example, during the presentation of one of a paper dealing with the control of a spider robot, a practical demonstration of the prototype was carried out by the authors.
The selection of the two best papers in the two oral sessions was conducted through a survey distributed to the attendees (approximately 20 people).

The winners of the ‘Best Paper’ award ($ 750), were:
1 .- "Kinematics Open Loop Control of an Hexapod Robot with Embedded Digital Signal Controller (DSC)" by Márcio Totaki, Raphael Carvalho, Rodrigo Letang, Rodrigo Schneiater and Wagner Moraes, from the Universidade São Judas Tadeu, Brazil (in the picture with the spider robot).
2 .- "Space Vector PWM Modulator for Reducing Switching Losses Three-Level Flying-Capacitor Inverters" by Sebastian Stynski, from the Warsaw University of Technology, Poland.
From here, the SF organizers would like to thank the students’ effort and encourage them to continue participating in IES conferences in the future.
Student Forum 2011 Announcement
The Industrial Electronics Society has organized a new edition of the Student Forum (IES-SF) in connection with IEEE International Symposium on Industrial Electronics, ISIE 2011 - Gdansk (Poland) June 27-30, 2011.
The Industrial Electronics Society Student Forum (IES-SF) is a great opportunity for engineering students and recently graduated engineers to present their research work on Industrial Electronics and related areas. The IES-SF is an activity specially though for young engineers and aimed to get in touch with many international students and recently graduated from universities and companies. Please, take a look to the student’s activities at the symposium web site (http://www.isie2011.pl/students) to know more about the IES-SF.
The IES-SF offers many benefits to young engineers, such as an $ 100 reduced inscription fee, a $ 750 award to both the best oral and the best poster presentations, a student's wellcome party and banquet, an extended paper submisson deadline, special tutorials, and more...
