For an individual to be listed as a co-author, it is mandatory from 01 March 2022 that the primary e-mail address is an institutional one. This applies not only to the submitting author but to ALL authors of each and every paper. Papers where this requirement is not satisfied will not be put into the review process.

To ensure compliance with this requirement the submitting author should, prior to the submission, contact all co-authors and request that they, if necessary, edit contact details in their S1M accounts. Non-institutional e-mails can only be used as the Primary CC e-mail address from this date onward.

How to update the emails on S1M

Add your institutional email on the "Primary E-Mail Address" field. By including non-institutional emails as "Primary CC E-Mail Address", as shown in the picture, the user will receive a copy of the messages sent from S1M.

Message from the E-i-C regarding COVID-19

At this time of health crisis worldwide, our magazine continues to operate normally. We however recognize that many of our authors, reviewers and editors are affected in one way or the other by the Covid-19 spread. If you have difficulties to meet a set deadline for any of your tasks, like review of a paper or submission of a revised version, extensions can be granted on a case by case basis. Please contact the Magazine assistant Jose Rueda J.L.RuedaTorres@tudelft.nl. I wish you and your family good health.

Peter Palensky

Scope

IEEE Industrial Electronics Magazine (IEM) publishes peer-reviewed articles that present emerging trends and practices in industrial electronics product research and development, key insights, and tutorial surveys in the field of interest to the membership of the IEEE Industrial Electronics Society (IEEE/IES). IEM is limited to the scope of the IES which is given as theory and applications of electronics, controls, communications, instrumentation and computational intelligence to industrial and manufacturing systems and processes.

ORCID is required for all authors

All IEEE journals require an Open Researcher and Contributor ID (ORCID) for all authors. ORCIDs enable accurate attribution and improved discoverability of an author's published work. The author will need a registered ORCID in order to submit a manuscript or review a proof in this journal.

Follow these steps to link a ScholarOne account to a registered ORCID:

  1. Login to ScholarOne and click on your name in the top right corner of the screen.
  2. Click E-mail / Name in the dropdown menu.
  3. In the ORCID section at the top of the page, click the appropriate link to either register for a new ORCID or associate the account with an existing ORCID.
  4. A new page will open to create and/or validate your ORCID. Once the validation is complete, the new page will close and you will return to ScholarOne.
  5. Save the changes to your ScholarOne user account.

Authors who do not have an ORCID in their ScholarOne user account will be prompted to provide one during submission.

For more information, please visit the ORCID help center.

IEM aims at promoting the engineering process of creating, developing, integrating, sharing and applying knowledge about electro and information technologies and sciences for the enhancement of industrial and manufacturing processes. IEM publishes peer-reviewed articles that present emerging trends and practices in industrial electronics, key insights presented by the leaders from academia and industry, tutorials and surveys covering the theory and applications of electronics, controls, communications, instrumentation and computational intelligence in industrial and manufacturing systems and processes, as well as reports on new products research and development. All technical articles are peer-reviewed and respect the IEEE standard.

The following types of contributions are welcome:

  • Main Features: are original contributions with a focus on survey articles on timely technology trends that are interesting for a wide readership. Application-oriented papers may also be published in this category.
  • From Mind to Market: comprises short articles presenting inventions and patents within the scope of IEM, and how these inventions are turned into products.
  • Industry Forum: are contributions primarily from industry.
  • Past & Present: are short articles presenting the application of an old theory to a new problem.

More information about preparation and submission of manuscripts is detailed here
