Student Branches (SB) provide IEEE Student and Graduate Student Members the opportunity to meet and learn from fellow students, as well as faculty members and professionals in the field. An active IEEE Student Branch can be one of the most positive elements in a department or University, offering programs in the IEEE designated fields of Engineering, Computer Science and Information Technology, as well as similarly related fields.

An IES SB Chapter (SBC) at your Student Branch is your local link to the valuable resources available from the IEEE and the Industrial Electronics Society.
It is a novel idea to share experience and support student’s projects and activities. The SBC is created by Students and YPs for Students and YPs, depending on the number of new SB Technical Chapters and real activity of existing chapters will allow to increase the support. The SBCs are supported by the Society, which offers the knowledge and funds for an interesting Young Professionals & Student project.

Moreover, the SBC is able to receive the Best Student Branch Chapter Award for its activities and other kinds of support.

Newly approved and formed IES SBC are eligible to financial support of up to $200 USD upon their request via email to:
IES VP for Membership, Antonio Luque, vp-membership@ieee-ies.org
IES SBC Coordinator, Ala Chalghaf, ala.chalghaf@ieee.org

IMPORTANT

IEEE Society Grant money must be deposited or transferred to a Chapter via the bank account of the IEEE Section that the Student Branch Chapter belongs to. Funds cannot be transferred to other personal, business, or professional accounts.

  • Some tips to prepare your video

  1. Whether your project is theoretical or by simulations, you are expected to prepare the movie as interactive, live, and interesting for the viewers. Record some minutes from running results in the software during simulation or practical tests.

  2. Record some videos from your hardware design or even software results (e.g., the screen of your computer) while they are running. Or add some discussion with members of your team, etc. At least 70% of your video should include interactive parts rather than solid slides.

  3. It is recommended that you present the work with your own voice during the video recording. Your video will be placed on the IES YouTube Channel and should attract viewers.

  4. Showing some information on the video using simple texts as subtitles is also recommended.

  5. Sometimes, background music could make your video much more enjoyable.

  6. Try to make people interested in your videos. Devote some seconds of the video to your office, lab, or any place you work in and show the stuff you use for that project, introduce team members and supervisors, explain motivation, etc.

  7. Note that the video should be impressive and interactive. Static pictures interest only a few people. Find gifs or flash images from the Internet.

  8. Ensure you have the copyright for materials used in your video, including animations, songs, photos, etc.
